5 Cafes To Go During Weekend

You know you can’t wait for the weekend to come when it’s Wednesday… that mid-week blues are diminishing and weekend is drawing near. My bf and I have a list of places to go during weekend and we love exploring great food and good coffee. Am I foodie? Well, sort of, at the rate I’m going. Haha.

So here’s a list of recent places that I have been to and just to share with you guys if you have the interest to explore them.

1. Atlas Coffeehouse
6 Duke’s Rd, 268886

It is newly opened and situated near Botanic Gardens MRT station. It exudes great ambience – more towards industrial look and feel. So packed with hungry people during lunchtime. But the waiting time was only around 5 minutes.

As you can see from the picture, business was good and packed to the brim. Shortly after taking this photo, we had the ‘window seat’ (left of entrance) which is pretty fine for us. Unless you prefer somewhere more spacious. There isn’t much privacy here, given the loud echo but the food made up for it.

ATLAS Super Bowl at $17

Their ATLAS super bowl has sun-dried tomato, shimeiji mushrooms, toasted quinoa, baby spinach and chicken.

Salmon with Soba at $17

The food is not bad, nothing out of the ordinary given the price of it. However, there is no service charge or GST. I would recommend to those to come during off-peak period and chill with a cuppa in hand. I’m sure the ambience would be better without the echo and crowd. And get ready that wallet of yours for the food here.

A good place for gatherings and friends.

2. Arbite
66A Serangoon Garden Way, 555962

Have been seeing a lot of good reviews about this cafe and decided to head down there to check it out. They offer standard all-day breakfast menu and being the eggs-fanatic, I opted for eggs benedict.

Small cozy place on second level near Guardian
Eggs Benedict at $11

Salted Egg Fries at $8. Have to try this despite down with running nose and sore throat. :X

The eggs benedict was average and given the reasonable price, I have no qualms about it. The salted egg fries were not what I expected it to be but nonetheless it was tasty. However, it was unmemorable and I don’t see myself coming back in the near future.

A great place to laze around during sunday mornings with your other half.

3. Sunday Market
22 Lim Tua Tow Rd, 547772

I remembered we wanted to check out Flavour Flings but the place rejected walk-ins. Thus we headed to Sunday Market instead.

Ordered Roasted Duck Pancake with Garlic Hoisin at $12.90 and French Toast with BBQ Chicken at $12.90. Had thai iced tea along with it.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal and I like the concept and vibe of it. Love the roasted duck in the savoury pancakes and boy, was I full after this.

Recommended place for dates and gatherings.

4. The Refinery (OMG! Highly Recommended)
115 King George’s Avenue #01-02, 208561

This is the kind of cafe for me. Period. I can see myself chilling at this place every week and indulge in my own tiny world. The indie vibe and laid-back ambience make this place special and relaxing for the customers. Totally reminds me of Nikko Cafe in BKK.

Teriyaki chicken don at $10 only! All the happiness in a bowl. 🙂

Being the salted-egg lover, I had to order this salted egg onion rings at $12.

The whole dining experience was – awesome. No crowd during lunch (maybe it is quite far away from Lavendar MRT station), great ambience for chilling with your other half, families, girl-friends etc. You will feel relaxed and at ease, satisfied with the meal. I remembered us dipping into the salted egg sauce continuously and wolfing down our food happily.

I would love to go back there to try their Refinery Bowl and Cauliflower Fritters. (based on the instagram raves)

Highly recommended to try out this place for dates, gatherings and just to relax one corner.

5. The Wicked Garlic
10 Anson Road, #01-37, International Plaza, 079903

Stumbled upon this place in Burpple app and being a pasta and prawn lover, I knew I must check this place. Its branch at International Plaza was small and unpretentious, and you can smell the lovely pasta from far. It has another outlet at Clifford Center as well. Can only imagine how packed this place would be during the lunch time.

Prawn Aglio Olio with mushrooms at $12.70. Served with 5 big juicy prawns!

My bf has chicken chop pasta.

No GST and NO Service charge and you get to taste above average pasta… OMG! Where to find such a good deal in CBD area? Their aglio olio sets you back at only $5.90, with additional prawns is $6.90 and mushrooms at $1. There are other ingredients you can add on as well for e.g ham. Thumbs up for the great pasta. Would definitely come back for more. I would call this comfort food for those who need a break after a busy morning at work.

I would want to try their chilli crab pasta and baked seafood pasta. Wallet-friendly and worth my next trip!

Great for those working around CBD area and a must-try for pasta lovers!

Shall update soon after my other food adventures. Stay tuned! 🙂
